These types of therapies can include both surgical and non-surgical treatments, depending on both the severity and stage of your periodontal disease. Dr. Sergey Dolgov will work with you to determine the best treatment option for you and your oral health–typically, the non-surgical option is almost always preferred.
Surgical vs. Non-Surgical Therapy
The type of therapy needed for each patient will depend upon the severity and amount of damage inflicted on your gums and teeth. Surgical therapy is needed for patients who have advanced periodontitis and need more intensive surgical procedures to help restore their teeth and gums. Surgical therapies include gum grafting, gum flap surgery and dental implants, in addition to a few more depending on your unique situation.
Non-surgical therapies include regular, thorough dental cleaning, flossing, scaling and root planing and sometimes, medication.
